If you have never heard Mr. Jessy Dixon perform find him on YouTube, you will not be disappointed. He never received the recognition in life he deserved but I know he’s been singing in Heaven with God among the Angels for the past year. I still enjoy his music. His voice just pierces your soul. Our Gospel Artist should be appreciated and recognized more, they definitely deserve it.
Jessy Dixon was recognized on many levels on his journey. From singing with the late James Cleveland early on, opening for Paul Simon, and performing with Andrae Crouch, Dottie Rambo, Natalie Cole and Degarmo and Key, he bridged many gaps and crossed barriers throughout Secular and Gospel music. His most recent relationship with Bill Gaither gave him the greatest platform and exposure to the great Southern Gospel community. Singing ‘Blessed Assurance’ for Benny Hinn in Israel (YouTube) was one of the most profound performances I had seen since I first heard him sing it in Pittsburgh in 1973! We had the pleasure of traveling with him on several of his Carribean cruises years back. Not exactly a household name, but one who touched millions of lives for God. One of the most engaging persons I have ever met!

Wow you met him, I would have loved to attend one of his concerts. Gospel artist as a whole IMO does not receive the recognition they deserve. During the Grammy’s earlier this year there was a brief mention of his passing. He deserves so much more. His vocal range was just off the charts. Thanks for sharing I will have to check out his YouTube videos. Thanks again.
